A landmark moment as the first cohort of 22 widows complete our vocational training program in Abuja.
In December 2024, the Enthrone Initiatives Abuja Widow Vocational Training Center celebrated its first graduation ceremony, 22 women who came in with broken spirits and left as confident, skilled entrepreneurs.
The six-month program covered tailoring, baking, and basic computer and business skills. Many graduates have already started small businesses and are reporting improved income within their first month.
Many of the graduates share stories of loss, of husbands who were the sole breadwinners, of children who went hungry, of dignity stripped away by circumstance. The training program didn't just teach skills. It rebuilt confidence, created community, and restored hope.
A certificate does not feed a household. That is why the six months cover pricing, record-keeping and managing stock alongside the trade itself, and why graduates leave with the equipment their work requires. Training without tools produces a qualification and no income; the first day after graduation needs to be a working day.
The women also arrive carrying grief and, in many cases, disputed inheritance or the loss of a home. Those realities are addressed directly rather than left outside the classroom door.
The most durable outcome is not the individual businesses but the group itself. Cohorts frequently keep meeting after the programme ends, forming savings groups, sharing suppliers and passing on customers. A woman who would have faced the year alone finishes it inside a network of 21 others who understand exactly what she is carrying.

Enthrone Initiatives partnered with Cold Spring Bible Chapel for a community outreach that brought volunteers and neighbors together for meals, fellowship, and compassionate service.
Seventy children in Benue, Kaduna, and Kogi received 2026/2027 Enthrone Education Awards with school supplies and scholarship support.
